From Plans to Steel Frame Kit — Built Around a Clear Process
At Redhead Steel, we keep the process simple, organized, and transparent. Our focus is cold-formed and steel frame construction for commercial, multifamily, agricultural, industrial, and larger repeat residential projects.
We manufacture the steel frame/shell package. We do not handle the entire build. Your general contractor, builder, or installer manages site work, foundations, MEPs, finishes, and final construction.
1. Project Inquiry
Send us the basic details of your project, including the project type, location, approximate square footage, number of buildings, roof style, and whether you already have plans.
Best-fit projects include:
• Commercial buildings
• Multifamily projects
• Warehouses
• Agricultural buildings
• Industrial structures
• Large custom homes
• Repeat residential builds, such as multiple units or the same house design built several times
Ready to Start?
Send us your plans or project details and our team will review the scope to see if Redhead Steel is the right fit for your build.
2. Plans Review
Once we receive your architectural plans, sketches, or construction documents, our team reviews them to understand the scope and determine whether the project is a good fit for our steel framing system.
We look at the structure, layout, roof system, wall framing, floor joists if needed, and overall steel package requirements.
3. Buildertrend Project Setup
For approved projects, Redhead Steel uses Buildertrend to help keep the process organized.
Buildertrend allows us to manage project information, documents, estimates, communication, updates, and internal coordination in one place. This helps reduce confusion, keeps project details easier to track, and gives our team a cleaner workflow from review to production.
4. Engineering & Material Takeoff
After review, we move into engineering coordination and material takeoff.
This is where the steel frame package is planned, including wall panels, trusses, joists, framing members, connectors, and other required steel components.
If stamped engineering is needed, we coordinate that as part of the process.
5. Estimate & Proposal
We prepare a detailed proposal based on the steel frame/shell package required for your project.
Your proposal may include:
- Cold-formed steel framing
- Wall panels
- Roof trusses
- Floor joists
- Structural steel components when needed
- Engineering coordination
- Manufacturing
Because steel pricing can change, proposals may only be valid for a limited time.
6. Approval & Deposit
Once the proposal is reviewed and approved, the deposit secures your place in our schedule.
At this stage, we confirm project details, production needs, Buildertrend information, and any final documents required before manufacturing begins.
7. Manufacturing
Your steel frame package is manufactured with precision for the specific project.
Our goal is to provide a strong, organized, code-conscious framing system that helps builders move faster and reduce jobsite waste compared to traditional framing methods.
8. Delivery & Installation Coordination
Once manufacturing is complete, the steel package is prepared for pickup, delivery, or freight coordination.
Your contractor, builder, or installer is responsible for installation. Redhead Steel can help coordinate information needed for a smooth handoff, but we are not the full general contractor for the entire build.
